Governor's Message We have just completed another successful District Eight Conference. Congratulations to Altrusa International of Chickasha for the great job they did hosting the 53rd annual conference. A special congratulations to all of the award winners. Fifteen of our 25 clubs won an award at Conference—from honorable mention to 1st place! Look for announcements of award winners on this website.

As we all returned hope re-energized with that Altrusa spirit, I hope you are now working hard on membership retention. It’s time to submit our dues renewals. Hopefully, there will be lots of high retention rates in our District Eight clubs.
Your District Officers will be contacting you soon about club visits. All were given assignments at Conference. Club visits are a highlight for us and we look forward to visiting all of you soon. I will be visiting nine clubs. In most cases I will be able to visit on a scheduled meeting night. I may have to ask one or two clubs to switch to a different night so that I can make a swing of several clubs at once. Not only does this assist us all in time away from work, but it also makes more sense for the District. Thank you in advance for accommodating the officers with these requests.

Governor Linda Smiths' 2008 - 2011 Goals
· Increase District Eight's membership by 10% through recruitment, retention and developing new Major League Teams (Clubs) for our District · Market Altrusa by developing and implementing a plan to "get the word out" about Altrusa across District Eight · Increase the number of grant applications to International Foundation from District Eight · Involve someone from every club on the District level
