News Features from District Eight Clubs

Altrusa International of Salina, Kansas in conjunction with Waldenbooks collected thirty one cases of books and teddy bears this holiday season! Total items include 994 books and 77 teddy bears. The books and bears are being delivered by Altrusa members to 12 area agencies for use in their centers.
Donations are being given to: Ashby House CAPS DVACK Heartland Programs Library of Love - pediatric patients at SRHC Martin Luther King Jr. Child Development Center Rebecca Morrison House Salina Regional Health Center – new babies born on the 8th of each month Salina Youth Care Girls Home SANE/SART St. Francis. Sunflower Adult Day Care

Service projects are as follows:
· Comfort Kits for Sexual Abuse Victims — Personal items provided to three area hospital emergency rooms · 4.0 Luncheon — At Arkansas Governor’s Mansion, honoring students with 4.0 GPA from three local high schools · “Make a Difference Day” Project — Purchase and deliver dictionaries to local 3rd graders · Sponsor 2 adult students at the Garland County Literacy Council — English language learning materials · Literacy Project to support the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Children's Concert in Hot Springs · Christmas Angel Tree — Recipients are residents of Small Group Therapy, a facility for the developmentally challenged |
